Lebby Resigns as OIDA President

The Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA) announced that Michael Lebby has stepped down as its president and chief executive officer to return to industry after serving at OIDA since 2005.

Lebby will continue to serve as past president and as a member of the board. The association’s board of directors has appointed Frederic Quan as its new president, effective immediately.

During his time at OIDA, Lebby helped to position it as a national resource in the field of optoelectronics and photonics, and represented the industry in talks, papers, market and technical reports. Most recently he worked with the FCC to driver higher Internet speeds for consumers with the use of fiber optics.

With more than 30 years in senior research and management positions at Corning Inc., Quan has joined OIDA as an optoelectronics and telecommunications industry veteran. Recently, Quan helped to establish several industry groups, including the IDCC and the GMIC to enhance partnerships and further collaborative projects between major industrial companies and government agencies.
