Innovation Photonics Launches

Optical components company, Innovation Photonics (innpho) was launched in December 2009, by Don Wilson, founder of Special Optics and OFR (Optics for Research).

According to Wilson, the focus of innpho is on applications requiring uncommon optics. Currently, mid-IR components are of interest as applications of quantum cascade lasers emerge. Some of innpho’s new products include:

       • Mid-IR Focusing Objectives (designed for laser-to-fiber coupling)
       • Mid-IR Fiber Pigtails
       • Output Collimators
       • Laser-mountable Input Couplers
       • Mid-IR Polarizers, 2 um -12 um

Wilson has been in the photonics arena (precision optics, engineering & design, isolators, fiber-optic configuring devices, telescopes) since 1964, and has been awarded a number of patents on isolators, fiber-optic devices and optical components.
