Cree Adds Green Jobs in NC

Cree Inc., a manufacturer of LED lighting products based in Durham, N.C., announced the expansion of its manufacturing capacity in 2009 with the addition of 275 green jobs in Durham. The market for energy-efficient lighting continues to expand, said the company, which anticipates creating 300 more jobs by the end of 2012. The company also has begun manufacturing and assembling products in conjunction with Flextronics of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Cree’s line of LED lights, including the Energy Star-qualified LR6 recessed downlight and the award-winning LR24 troffer replacement, began production in August 2009.
