Bentley to Advise Qioptiq Defense

Qioptiq announced that Dr. Julie Bentley, recognized as a leader in the field of optical system design, has joined Qioptiq Defense in Fairport, N.Y., as technical advisor. Qioptiq manufactures optical systems for defense and aerospace applications; as technical advisor, Bentley will work on optical design, system integration and technology research to increase the value of the company’s offerings for the defense and aerospace industry. Bentley will also serve as an associate professor at the University of Rochester, teaching two graduate classes in optical design and an undergraduate class in geometrical optics. Most recently, Bentley worked for Corning Tropel as advanced conceptual design manager. She has also held positions such as optical designer and technology manager at companies including Micron/GGC Imaging and Raytheon. She holds multiple patents, is the co-chair of the 2010 International Optical Design Conference, and has a book planned for publication in 2010.
