Lucent to Supply Components for Spanish Net

MADRID, Spain, May 13 -- Lucent Technologies will supply Telefonica de Espana with high-capacity optical networking systems in the cities of Galicia, Asturias, Leon and the Andalucia region, which encompasses Cadiz, Malaga and Seville. The contract is Lucent's second with Telefonica.
Under the new agreement, Lucent will supply the Spanish telecom with WaveStar OLS 80G, a high-capacity dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system that combines up to 16 wavelengths per fiber pair, each with a capacity of 2.5 Gb/s.
