Advanced Machine Vision Patents Inspection Technology
MEDFORD, Ore., May 11 -- Advanced Machine Vision Corp. has received a US patent for an infrared optical method for inspecting peel-bearing potatoes. The illumination system enables AMV's proprietary cameras to identify peel-covered defects in a fast-moving stream of potato products using specific light-wave reflections. The new technology may be used for all skin-on potato products, including French fries, dices and wedges.
William J. Young, AMV's chairman, president and CEO, said, The IR method allows potato processors to substantially improve the quality and yield of their products by detecting defects either before the potato is peeled prior to processing, or during the processing of potato products marketed with skin on.
