ECI Telecom to Supply Thai Network

PETAH TIKVA, Israel, May 10 -- ECI Telecom Ltd. announced that it will be the exclusive supplier of SDH solutions for the Communication Authority of Thailand's CAT2000 network . The network will form a backbone over 200 km long linking CAT Telecom Centers to the satellite earth station in the northeastern part of Thailand.
The $5.2 million (US) contract includes the supply of ECI Telecom's SDM-16 Add/Drop Multiplexers, which enable direct access of 2 Mbit/s bandwidth from 2.5 Gbit/s fiber, and SDM-1 155 Mbit/s Add/Drop Multiplexers. In addition, ECI Telecom has offered special optical solutions to enable the transmission of traffic over distances of more than 100 km, substantially reducing the number of regenerators needed within the network.
