Uniphase Added to NASDAQ-100 Index

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 5 -- Uniphase Corp. has become a member of the NASDAQ-100 Index, which the company describes as representing the largest and most active non-financial domestic and international stocks traded on the NASDAQ. The Index includes such firms as Cisco, Intel and Microsoft.
We see our inclusion in the NASDAQ-100 Index as another demonstration of the growing importance of the entire fiber optic component industry, said Kevin Kalkhoven, chairman and CEO of Uniphase.
