Lucent to Sell US West $300 Million in Equipment

DENVER, Colo., April 20 -- Lucent Technologies Inc. said it will sell $300 million in equipment to US West Inc. over the next two years. The Denver-based telephone company will use the equipment to modernize its networks.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lucent will sell switching telecommunications equipment, software and professional services to US West. The new switching technology will allow US West to handle greater volumes of both voice calls and data transmission, and will facilitate the installation of additional customer lines.
