Dalsa to Inspect Solar Cells
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada-based Dalsa, a manufacturer of digital imaging components for the machine vision market, has announced its entrance into the solar cell inspection market. Machine vision is used by solar cell manufacturers for product inspection, identification and tracking, and product assembly. Currently, solar cell manufacturers are under pressure to drive down costs to achieve “grid parity,” the point at which the cost of solar energy is roughly equivalent to the cost of conventional power distributed on electric grids. According to Dalsa, its experience in area-scan, line-scan and embedded processing for inspection in the flat panel display industry will be successfully applied to solar cell inspection and will result in high quality, cost-effective capabilities for the industry.
