Kollmorgen Wins Contract for Turkish Navy Periscopes

WALTHAM, Mass., April 5 -- Kollmorgen Corp. has received a $22 million contract from the leading German shipyard Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG to produce advanced submarine periscopes for the Turkish Navy.
The contract covers a total of four Model 76 Attack and Model 76 Search periscopes to be built by Kollmorgen. The periscope systems will include image intensifiers, laser ranging, CCD TV cameras, image stabilization, magnification changes and a state-of-the-art imaging system. Work on the new systems will be performed at Kollmorgen's Electro-Optical Division in Northampton, Mass. and Brattleboro, VT.
