JDSU Promotes Thomas Waechter to CEO
JDSU of Milpitas, Calif., announced that Thomas Waechter has been promoted to president and CEO, effective Jan. 1. Waechter, currently president of JDSU’s largest business segment, Communications Test and Measurement, will also join the company's board. Prior to joining JDSU in 2007 he held a variety of executive positions, including serving as president and CEO of Stratex and a 14-year stint with Schlumberger. Over the last eight years he has worked within the telecommunications industry as CEO and chief operating officer of a number of public companies. A search for Waechter's replacement as head Communications Test and Measurement is underway; David Holly, the segment's senior vice president, will have interim responsibility for day-to-day operations. JDSU provides communications test and measurement and optical products for telecommunications service providers, cable operators, and network equipment manufacturers, and optical solutions for medical/environmental instrumentation, semiconductor processing, display, and aerospace and defense, among other applications.
