Discovery Channel uses Photron's High-Speed Camera

Photron Inc., manufacturer of high speed cameras and motion analysis software systems, is supplying their high speed Fastcam SA1 camera to the Discovery Channel’s new television series, “Time Warp.” The Fastcam SA1 will be used for slow motion imaging, which allows viewers to see “everyday” activities, animal behavior, human feats and fascinating phenomena in remarkable detail. Photron, located in San Diego, has teamed with co-hosts Jeff Lieberman, an MIT scientist and teacher, and digital photography expert Matt Kearney of Tech Imaging Services of Salem, Mass. The slow-motion camera offers superfast frame rates, capable of broadcasting extremely high resolution, high definition TV (HDTV) up to 5400 frames per second (fps). The camera can also achieve near HD resolution at up to 10,000 fps for “Time Warp.”
