AU Optronics Appoints New CEO

Taiwan-based AU Optronics Corp., a maker of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, announced today that Dr. LJ Chen will become its president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2009. LJ Chen replaces HB Chen as CEO; HB Chen will serve as vice chairman of the board and will be responsible for the company's long-term strategies. HB Chen is also chairman of Lextar Electronics Corp. and Welllypower Optronics Corp. As part of several organization changes and job rotations, LJ Chen was appointed AU Optronics' president and chief operation officer last September.
