Xedar Awarded US Air Force Contract for VTT
Denver-based Xedar Corp., which provides homeland security, consulting and IT services to the departments of Homeland Security and Defense, announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the US Air Force to create three Heavy Weapons Virtual Task Trainers (VTT) for the Basic Aerial Gunner Course. Work under the contract will be performed by Xedar's Point One subsidiary in Arlington, Va., and is expected to be completed within six months. According to Xedar, this contract is significant because it addresses a critical component of homeland security and preparation. It depends on interactive 3-D technologies including animation and guided skill-development, precise 3-D modeling, hands-on reliable training, and comprehensive support. Xedar's technology animates real training procedures, including disassembling/assembling parts, rotating, moving, cross-sectioning, x-ray/context view and zooming, all of which are rendered in real time in virtual reality. This contract marks the third US Air Force contract awarded to Xedar this year that utilizes their 3-D software training and services.
