Georgia Tech Names New Tech Lab Director
Lon Pringle, a longtime research scientist with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), has been appointed director of its Signature Technology Laboratory (STL), succeeding John Meadors. Pringle was formerly STL’s chief scientist. The new director earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech in 1977, and he received a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of South Carolina in 1988. He joined GTRI in 1988 and became a principal research scientist in 2000. The Signature Technology Laboratory has approximately 110 employees who focus on development of technologies for the management and control of multispectral signature of objects under observation by sophisticated sensor systems.
