Sydor Optics Moves All Operations to New HQ
Precision flat-surfaced parallel and wedged optics maker Sydor Optics announced it has completed moving all of its optics fabrication businesses in Rochester, Brighton and Fairport, N.Y., to its newly expanded headquarters at 31 Jet View Drive in Rochester. Sydor bought the 27,000-sq-ft facility in 2007 and moved its optics fabrication operation and instruments group there in July. The company recently finished a 12,000-sq-ft addition to the existing facility to house its laser optics group, concentrating on calcium fluoride and magnesium fluoride optics processing. Sydor said the expansion, coupled with an investment in new equipment, will help continue its record growth of roughly 210 percent over the past three years. "It's a good time to be in the optics business," said President Jim Sydor. "The entire industry is busy and this is reflected in the volume of business we have been experiencing here at Sydor. We now have plenty of room to take on large volume opportunities and to expand our operations if needed."
