Marc N. Casper Named COO at Thermo Fisher

Marc N. Casper has been named chief operating officer at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. of Waltham, Mass., effective immediately. Casper was president of Thermo Fisher's Analytical Technologies businesses after the merger of Thermo Electron and Fisher Scientific in November 2006. He joined the company in December 2001 as president of its Life and Laboratory Sciences sector. Before that, he was president, CEO and a director of Kendro Laboratory Products. Previously, he was president-Americas at Dade Behring Inc.; he began his career at Bain & Co. as a strategy consultant and later joined Bain Capital. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in economics from Wesleyan University.
