CLEO: Bookham Buys Servo Line
Bookham Inc. announced it has acquired part of Precision Photonics Corp.'s LB1005 high-speed servo controller line. The LB1005 will be available, through Bookham's New Focus division, to the scientific laser community immediately.
The LB1005 is being displayed at the New Focus booth (#1821) at the CLEO/QELS exhibition, being held this week at the San Jose Convention Center. Precision Photonics (Booth 1738), based in Bouldor, Colo., makes optical components, femtosecond lasers and precision laser measurement and control products (Booth 1738).
Bookham said the line is a strong addition to its tunable and single-frequency lasers.
"
The LB1005 high-speed servo controller is a one-box solution that allows for highly stable frequency and intensity locks on many types of lasers as well as synchronization of pairs of lasers," Bookham said in a statement. "It is designed for flexibility, offering independent control of the P-I corner frequency, overall servo gain and low-frequency gain limit."
The all-analog design is extremely quiet and extremely high-bandwidth, Bookham said. The controller is suited to a variety of applications, including atom/ion trapping, Bose-Einstein condensation, frequency metrology, quantum optics, and the high-speed stabilization, synchronization and control of lasers.
