Zecotek and FujikuraSign Letter of Intent

Zecotek Medical Systems Inc. of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, signed a letter of intent on Oct. 15 with Fujikura Ltd. of Tokyo to negotiate terms of a proposed business partnership that would involve the manufacture and distribution of certain technologies and products, including Zecotek’s new line of fiber lasers and a detector block that consists of the company’s solid-state photodetectors and LFS scintillation crystals.

The agreement calls for the partners to lay the foundation for ongoing collaboration. Fujikura could contribute capital investment, technical support and manufacturing expertise for products that it can license for manufacture and distribution, or a joint venture could be arranged. The letter allows three months for concluding negotiations.

In other news, Zecotek has named Market Tech Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz., as its exclusive US sales representative for its new line of fiber laser products. With the appointment, Zecotek has received its first order for the GLF-540-0.2 green fiber laser series from a US customer.
