Intersil, Zhejiang University Open Cooperative R&D Lab

Analog semiconductor chip-maker Intersil Corp. of Milpitas, Calif., and Zhejiang University announced this week they have partnered to open a new power management research laboratory at the university in Hangzhou, China. Intersil said it stocked the lab with the latest test equipment and a variety of its chips. Research activities at the lab, which will be managed by the university's Zhang Junming, will cover all aspects of power electronics such as power management, high frequency conversion techniques, induction heating, motor drive and electrical traction and renewable energy. Intersil also presented the university with six scholarships to support graduate-level research in power management electronics. "Getting practice at solving real customer design puzzles will ultimately help these students become more successful when they leave the university, and Intersil will benefit from the exchange of reference designs and technical information with these talented students," said Huang Jiong, China Applications Center manager for Intersil.
