Canada Clears Cutera YSGG Laser
Cutera Inc., a Brisbane, Canada-based provider of laser and other light-based aesthetic systems, announced it has been granted Health Canada approval for its Pearl YSGG (yttrium scandium gallium garnet) laser. Kevin Connors, president and CEO of Cutera, said the company will begin shipments to Canadian markets immediately. The laser is used in cosmetic "facial rejuvination" treatments designed to alleviate wrinkles, uneven texture, age spots and sun damage. It is the first application of the 2790-nm wavelength for cosmetic dermatology, Cutera said. Pearl was granted FDA clearance in March and CE Mark approval in July.
