SPIE Provides Grant for Photonics Education
SPIE, of Bellingham, Wash., has awarded a $3000 grant to the New England Board of Higher Education’s Project Photon2, a curriculum and professional development venture funded by the Advanced Technological Education program of the National Science Foundation of Arlington, Va. SPIE has partnered with the Boston-based board by providing services and activities that support more than 30 high schools and colleges nationwide as part of the project. The program involves partnerships between employers and academic institutions for improving the education of science and engineering technicians. As a result of the grant, the board will again offer the Photon2 Introduction to Photonics course.
