Oasys Technology to Produce 2300 HMDs for Army

Oasys Technology of Manchester, N.H., announced it has received a multimillion dollar award from the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command [RDECOM] for 2300 units of its remote eyepiece display-imager (Red-I), a monocular head-mounted display (HMD) system that provides remote video from any thermal weapon sight (TWS) system with a field of view equivalent to the TWS eyepiece. The HMD attaches directly to standard-issue military helmets or protective eyewear and is thin enough to fit behind the blast visor of the cupola protective ensemble, Oasys said. The Red-I operates with either OLED or AMLCD microdisplays; provides see-through "real-world" imagery and full color or monochrome operation; works continuously for more than 12 hours on a single DL123 battery; weighs 4oz, including battery and controls; is compatible with other video sources, such as universal night-sight thermal and universal night-sight fusion systems; and is configurable to accept video from other battlefield devices in RS-170 or SVGA mode.
