NeoPhotonics Boosts Transceiver Production
NeoPhotonics of Anaheim, Calif., announced today it is increasing its transceiver production capacity in Shenzhen, China, to 250,000 units per month to meet demand for its GEPON (Gigabit Ethernet passive optical network), GPON (Gigabit passive optical network), SFP (small form pluggable) and XFP (10-Gigabit small-form-factor pluggable) transceivers, used in fiber-to-the-x (FTTx), transport and reconfigurable optical networks. NeoPhotonics said it is adding 25,000 sq ft of manufacturing floor space at its production facilities in Shenzhen to increase the total monthly manufacturing capacity for transceivers to 250,000 units. The new capacity will primarily be used for different GEPON and GPON modules and for various configurations of standard, CWDM, DWDM (course/dense wavelength division multiplexing) and bidirectional SFP transceivers and XFP modules. NeoPhotonics will exhibit its transceiver portfolio and other products at the OFC/NFOEC exhibition, March 27-29 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
