Luminous-Intensity Standard Set for Traffic Lights
The
International Commission on Illumination in Vienna, Austria, recently reviewed requirements for the luminous intensity of road traffic signals. It undertook a major review of its recommendations published in 1988 in
A Guide for the Design of Road Traffic Lights. The commission has drafted new standards for color and luminous intensity based on a review of those initial recommendations.
Those interested in purchasing a copy of CIE Standard S 006/E-1998 should contact the commission at +43 1 714 31 87 0 or e-mail it at ciecb@ping.at. A French and German translation will be available soon.
