Company to Supply Filters for Telescope Imager

Barr Associates Inc. was selected by Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., to supply filters for the James Webb Space Telescope near-IR camera, which covers the spectral range of 0.6 to 5.0 μm. The Westford, Mass., company will design, manufacture and test the full range of 30 filters for the instrument, which also will be used as a wavefront sensor to ensure that the main mirror segments are aligned precisely. The space-qualified filters offer suitable transmitted wavefront spectral performance and cryogenic operation.
