High Silver Costs Trigger Another Kodak Price Hike

Eastman Kodak Co.'s Health Group today announced price increases worldwide on all its medical imaging films and related supplies for the second time this year.

Kodak cited continued high costs of raw materials, especially silver, as the primary reason for the price hikes. The current increases, effective immediately, range from 8 to 12 percent, but vary depending on products and markets around the world, the company said.

The Health Group, with 2005 revenues of $2.65 billion, supplies doctors and dentists with products such as picture archiving and communications systems, radiology information systems, healthcare information systems, computed radiography and digital radiography systems, laser imagers, mammography and oncology systems, dental imaging and x-ray film systems.

"This year has seen unprecedented high costs for basic commodities such as silver. These costs continue to escalate," said Health Group President Kevin Hobert. "This situation requires an additional price increase to maintain production of the high-quality film products our customers expect. This is a step that we must take to keep pace with rising raw material costs."
