Pittsburgh Mayor Welcomes Farfield Group
Representatives of the Farfield Group Ltd., based in Crewe, England, were guests of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mayor Luke Ravenstahl at a reception held last month at his office in downtown Pittsburgh. Farfield Scientific Inc., a supplier of analytical technologies and instruments for biophysics, nanotechnology and telecommunications applications to scientists in materials and life science research, opened a US office in Pittsburgh
earlier this year. Attending were (left to right): field application scientist Mark Gostock; Ravenstahl; Farfield's chairman, Paul Barraclough; and CFO Louise Madden. "Pittsburgh has the potential to be the center of the nanotechnology revolution," Barraclough said. He said Farfield Scientific has already established a community of scientific advocates for its technology in Pittsburgh, in fields as diverse as radio-frequency tagging, HIV drug discovery and cancer research. Madden said, "We expect this user base to spearhead the growth in our sales throughout the US. It is our vision that Farfield's technology can benefit every person on the planet and the researchers in this city are already beginning to achieve that."
