Companies to Develop Silicone Lenses

NuSil Technology LLC, a Carpinteria, Calif., manufacturer of silicone-based materials for health care, aerospace, electronics and photonics technologies, will jointly develop silicone lenses with FMI Inc., an Elk Grove Village, Ill., silicone rubber molder of optical components for the medical device industry. The lenses will be employed in optical sensors, high-brightness LED devices and photonic device packaging, where they are compatible with softer silicone encapsulants.
