Michelson Launches Consultancy Service

Michelson Diagnostic Ltd. of Orpington, UK, has launched an instrument engineering consultancy service. The company, formed by six former employees of Sira Technology Ltd. of Chislehurst, UK, will focus on serving clients of optical design and instrument development and technology transfer in the industrial and biomedical fields. It will retain its former name, MDL Innovations, as a trading name for the consultancy service.

In other news, the company has been awarded a £140,000 grant for research and development by the London Development Agency. The funding will support the development of a prototype medical scanner for use in lung cancer surgery. The scanner’s technology, based on optical coherence tomography, enables images of subsurface tissue structure to be captured and displayed in higher resolution than ultrasound, PET or MRI scanners provide.
