CVI Augments Prototyping Capabilities with Acquisition

CVI Laser LLC of Albuquerque, N.M., has purchased Optical Components Inc., enabling it to better meet market demand for rapid prototyping, high-volume production, and infrared imaging optics and assemblies. The optics are sought particularly for applications in the developing areas of remote sensing and thermal imaging.

The Covina, Calif., company manufactures custom optical elements and coatings for national laboratories and a variety of industries, including the aerospace sector. Among its capabilities are infrared optical component polishing and coating, rapid prototype optics shaping and polishing, precision prism manufacturing, and optomechanical subassembly.

In related news, a division of the Albuquerque company, CVI Technical Optics Ltd. of Onchan, Isle of Man, has selected BFi Optilas International SAS of Evry, France, as its exclusive distributor in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.
