Aculight Corp., a Bothell, Wash., developer of laser technologies, was awarded a $1.08 million contract by
Lockheed Martin to develop a rugged, compact, diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser. The laser, commissioned for the US Army's non-line-of-sight-launch system science and technology program, ultimately will be used as an infrared light source for the laser radar seeker in the loitering attack missile (LAM). With this seeker, the LAM will enable soldiers to search wide areas with a loitering munition and to perform high-fidelity automatic target recognition in adverse weather conditions. Aculight's laser system comprises an Nd:YVO4 laser with 1-micron light output.
. . . ILX Lightwave, a Bozeman, Mont., maker of laser diode instrumentation and test systems, announced it has donated an LTS-9110 laser diode test system to the
Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, in Hubei, China. The LTS-9110 performs precision parametric characterization of laser diodes. The company said it plans to donate equipment worth $200,000 to international colleges and universities and $100,000 in equipment to North American universities in the next five years.
. . . Technical Manufacturing Corp. (TMC), of Peabody, Mass., has released a new edition of its precision vibration isolation systems catalog, which includes a section on fundamental concepts of vibration control. Products include piezoelectric vibration control systems; optical tops, breadboards and supports; laboratory tables and tabletop platforms; floor and subfloor platforms and stands; isolators; acoustic enclosures; and OEM components and accessories.
