Fabrinet Is Acquiring JDS Plant in China

Engineering and electromechanical manufacturing services company Fabrinet of San Francisco intends to acquire the JDS Uniphase Corp. manufacturing plant in Fuzhou, China. It will purchase all assets and operations related to the facility, including R&D and the manufacture of products such as crystals and precision optics.

Fabrinet plans to retain the core management and technical expertise at the 225,000-sq-ft facility to expand its optical component business in China and in other areas. The transfer was scheduled for completion prior to June 30, subject to customary closing conditions.

JDS Uniphase is based in San Jose, Calif.
