Chinese Company Opens Specialty Fiber Operation

Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Co. Ltd. of Wuhan, China, has established its Specialty Fiber Div. with the intention of bringing its plasma chemical vapor deposition fiber-making capabilities to the specialty fiber market. The unit will focus on applications that require high performance, refractive index profiles and tight geometrical tolerances. The company offers high-bandwidth, low-attenuation, 50- to 125-µm graded-index fiber. Its capabilities include standard communication fibers and step-index multimode all-silica polymer-clad fibers.
