CMOS image sensor design companies
Awaiba Lda., based in Madeira, Portugal, and
Alexima, of Pasadena, Calif., have finalized an agreement that will enable them to share intellectual property and collaborate on developing products for camera manufacturers. Alex Krymski, founder of Alexima, said, "Joining forces with Awaiba will empower us to satisfy the vacuum created when companies like Photobit Technology and Fillfactory were sold." Awaiba makes image sensors for industrial inspection, medical endoscopy, high-speed video systems and automotive on-board cameras.
. . . Coherent Inc. is one of seven new members of the
International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI), which works to strengthen the global electronics manufacturing supply chain. Approximately 70 manufacturers, suppliers, industry associations, government agencies and universities belong to iNEMI. Coherent, based in Santa Clara, Calif., makes photonics-based products for commercial markets and scientific research. Other new members are Henkel Corp. (Irvine, Calif.), NanoDynamics Inc. (Buffalo, N.Y.), Nihon Superior Co. Ltd. (Osaka, Japan), PCNalert (Pasadena, Calif.), Symbol Technologies Inc. (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Total Parts Plus Inc. (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.)
