InterSense to Develop Cockpit Helmet Tracking System
To develop a cockpit helmet tracking system using miniature inertial reference sensors, InterSense Inc. of Bedford, Mass., has received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contract from the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command. The Airport & Aircraft Safety R&D Department of the Federal Aviation Administration plans to support the research with matching funds.
InterSense, which demonstrated a working prototype in Phase I, will produce a flight-ready helmet tracking system with submillimeter position and submilliradian accuracy to serve the application requirements of both agencies. The company is a supplier of precision motion tracking for flight simulation and training.
