Bell Labs Ireland Opens

Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, based in Murray Hill, N.J., has officially opened Bell Labs Research Centre Ireland at its Blanchardstown, Dublin, facility. Collaborating with Ireland's universities, technical institutes and government, researchers will focus on engineering, manufacturing and supply-chain technologies, encompassing such areas as photonics, network technologies, radio-frequency circuits and systems, and test and reliability systems. The center also will complement Bell Labs' R&D work in Nuremberg, Germany, in Madrid, Spain, and in other European countries.
