Optimum Optical Provides Helicopter Sight System

Optimum Optical Systems Inc. of Camarillo, Calif., has received a follow-on contract from DRS Optronics Inc. of Melbourne, Fla., for the infrared mast-mounted sight dual field-of-view lens assembly on the US Army's OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopters. Installed above the rotors of the platform, the integrated, multisensor electro-optical sighting system uses visible and advanced infrared technology to capture imagery and target acquisition data in both day- and nighttime battlefield conditions. The contract, as of October, was for $2.8 million.
