EM4 Tackles Optical Manufacturing Bottlenecks
BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 5 -- EM4 Inc., a supplier of optoelectronic manufacturing services and packaging technologies, has announced an $8 million Series B funding round that will contribute to its move into larger facilities, in Bedford, Mass., this month.
EM4 has developed proprietary assembly tools that it says provides faster, more accurate and "more reproducible" fiber alignment at critical manufacturing stages. The process uses partial automation and provides a two-fold increase in capacity and throughput while improving yield, EM4 said.
EM4 said the new 30,000-square-foot building will increase its production capacity and enhance its manufacturing partnerships.
EM4's core business involves the design, development, production and reliability testing of devices such as digital and analog lasers and receivers, sensors and interferometers.
