China Merger Creates Photop Technologies

FUZHOU, China, Dec. 8 -- Koncent Communication Inc., Shanghai Uniwave Technologies Co. Ltd., Fujian Sandgy Optronics Inc. and Fuzhou Microlattice Semiconductor Co. Ltd. announced they have agreed to merge into a new company, Photop Technologies Inc.

Photop will provide products, solutions and services in passive/active components, devices and modules for fiber optic communication; diode-pumped solid-state green/infrared lasers; high-precision optical components and crystals for instruments, fiber optic communication and lasers; and compound semiconductor crystals (GaAs and InP) as substrates for LED, laser diode and wireless communication components.

"Koncent, Suwtech, Sandgy and Microlattice are well-synergized in products, customer base and capability," said Hongrui Wang, chairman of Photop. "In addition to our current high-quality and low-cost products, we are building a leading photonics manufacturing base for international customers by vertical integration of our resources."

He said Photop has more than 40,000 square meters of facilities and more than 1000 employees, including more than 300 engineers, for photonics manufacturing services.
