Fiberguide and 3M Optical Components Collaborate

Under an OEM reseller agreement, Fiberguide Industries Inc. of Stirling, N.J., and 3M Optical Components of Austin, Texas, will form a partnership to broaden markets, industries and applications for 3M's Tecs coated silica/silica, hard-clad and "floppy fiber" graded-index multimode optical fibers. The alliance will help 3M to strengthen its presence in engineered packaging systems with large-core multimode fiber and will allow Fiberguide to provide a broader range of products to its customers. The fibers will be used in Fiberguide's custom assemblies and made available for trade sale. Their high concentricity and core-clad ratio make them suitable for connection alignment, fiber core positioning and high-transmission bundles.
