High-power fiber laser and amplifier manufacturer
IPG Laser GmbH, a division of IPG Photonics, of Burbach, Germany, announced it has shipped its first commercial, tunable 80 W erbium fiber laser. The single-mode laser output can be tuned in the "eye-safe" region of 1550 to 1567 nm. The unit was sold to the
Center for Electromagnetic and Time Metrology at the National Physical Laboratory in the UK.
. . . Optical Antenna Solutions (OAS) has relocated its headquarters to
Warwick University’s Venture Center, near Coventry, England. In November, OAS launched its optical antenna, which was developed at the university to enhance the capabilities of devices using infrared systems, such as mobile telephones interacting with laptop computers.
