Laser Expert Collared in Espionage Case
A US physicist who formerly worked for
Los Alamos National Laboratory (website) in New Mexico has admitted under a plea bargain agreement to giving defense information that he knew was classified to the Chinese government, officials at the
US Department of Justice said.
Peter Lee, 58, worked on projects relating to the use of lasers to simulate nuclear energy. He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.
