Sabeus Wins 2002 Photonics Circle of Excellence Award
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 7 -- Fiber optics developer Sabeus Inc. received a 2002 Photonics Circle of Excellence Award for its cold writing optical fiber technology.
Cold writing permits fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), which can transform an ordinary piece of optical communications fiber into various filters or sensors, to be "written" directly through the outer layers of a fiber, avoiding the necessity to first strip, then later recoat it.
The Photonics Circle of Excellence Award, given annually to 25 new products by the Photonics Spectra magazine editorial advisory board, was presented during Photonics West 2003 last week in San Jose.
