Raytheon Provides Laser for Missile Defense
Raytheon Co. of El Segundo, Calif., has delivered a track illuminator laser to Lockheed Martin for use in the US Air Force's airborne laser missile defense program. The diode-pumped Yb:YAG laser will be used to obtain information about a missile's speed and elevation. Raytheon's laser will be integrated with beam transfer optics for system testing at Lockheed's facility in Sunnyvale, Calif.
