Canada, Mexico High-Tech Groups Join Forces

MONTREAL, Dec. 19 -- The Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance) and its Mexican counterpart, the National Electronics, Computer and Telecommunications Industries Chamber (CANIETI), have adopted a global cooperation agreement to contribute to the development of their high-tech industries by exchanging services, joint projects, trade opportunities and human resources expertise.

"Canada and Mexico have a lot in common", said Rogelio Garza Garza, executive director of CANIETI. "High-tech industries need to address the current issues posed by the Information Technologies downturn, and to adapt to the post 9-11 environment. That is why we think that joining forces with CATA will contribute significantly to the development of both of our national IT industries and markets."

"Our first step will be to identify a major joint pilot project to drive the global cooperation agreement forward," said Jean-Guy Rens, executive director of CATAAlliance.
