Omkaram "Om" Nalamasu, an international expert in micro- and nanoelectronics, was named director of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Center for Integrated Electronics, effective Oct. 23. . . . Daniel E. Smith Jr., president and CEO of Sycamore Networks Inc. and a member of Lehigh University’s board of trustees, has established the Daniel E. and Patricia M. Smith Endowed Chair of The Center of Optical Technologies at Lehigh, in honor of his parents. The center, which opened in January 2001, advances research and commercialization of optical technologies.
