Advanced Photonix Purchases Silicon Sensors

Advanced Photonix Inc. of Camarillo, Calif., a supplier of OEM silicon-based electro-optic products, has acquired privately owned detector manufacturer Silicon Sensors LLC of Dodgeville, Wis., for $1.7 million. Silicon Sensors, which had been in operation for more than 35 years, had revenues of $4.3 million in fiscal year 2001 and of $2.5 million in the following 10 months. The acquisition will expand Advanced Photonix's manufacturing capability for products that include silicon PIN photodiodes, position-sensing detectors, CdS and CdSe detectors, LEDs and hybrid assemblies.
