ESI Receives Semiconductor Laser Order

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 30 -- Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESI) announced that Global Testing Corp. has placed an order for 300 mm semiconductor laser processing equipment to be installed at its facility in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.

The equipment will be shipped during ESI's second fiscal quarter, ending on Nov. 30. Global Testing has an installed base of ESI's 1.3-micron semiconductor processing systems. This purchase is part of continued expansion plans.

Global Testing, based in Hsin Chu with a subsidiary in Sunnyvale, Calif., is a provider of assembly test services for the subcontractor market.
